Welcome to Highwood Kennels.
We are passionate about breeding beautiful and sound Rottweilers and French Bulldogs that will enhance people’s lives.

I lucked into the Rottweiler breed in 1987.  I had just graduated from college and of course had to get a dog.  That year I went to the benched dog show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and had my first encounter with the breed.

I have to admit my first meeting was a little intimidating.  Though the intimidation quickly gave way to a life long love for the breed.  That day, I was also lucky enough to meet Becky Roiland.  Becky bred my first Rottweiler, “Max” also known as Roiland’s Dynamo.
Max was my constant companion and through showing him, I met some wonderful people that I am lucky to count as friends today.

My life got busy.  I worked as a management consultant to large and demanding companies and had two lovely and demanding children.  Dog showing and obedience competitions were put on “hold” for 10 years.  During that time we always had Rottweilers.

I started showing again in 2005 and once again lucked into another terrific breed, “Frenchies”.  I got “Peaches” Champion Holmac’s Haena Girl for my 8 year old daughter to show, while I was at the Rottweiler ring.  Devon and Peaches made quiet a splash.
Devon, at age 9, showed Peaches to her first points out of the puppy classes.

About this time I met Perry Payson and he finished “Magic” Am/Can Champion Nighthawk’s Unbelievable, RE, CDX.  Perry handled Magic’s show career beautifully and gave me my first Rottweiler champion.  Perry also loved French Bulldogs.
He saw Peaches and suggested he could finish her quickly.  Devon’s schedule had gotten busy and so Perry finished what Devon started.  Highwood had it’s first champion!

A little luck and getting to know some wonderful people that also have a great eye for dogs has allowed me to really enjoy these two special breeds.I hope that you enjoy our website.
