to Highwood. We are home to some wonderful Rottweilers and French Bulldogs.

I
lucked into the Rottweiler breed in 1987. I had just graduated
from college and of course had to get a dog. My husband, Mike,
who has an uncanny ability to figure out just what I need, told me
"if you are going to get a dog, it must be a
rottweiler." So that year I went to the benched show at
the Cow Palace in San Francisco and had my first encounter with the
breed. I have to admit my first meeting was a little
intimidating. Though the intimidation quickly gave way to a
life long love for the breed.
That
day, I was also lucky enough to meet Becky Roiland. Becky bred
my first Rottweiler, "Max" also known as Roiland's
Dynamo. Max was my constant companion for the short 7 years he
lived. Through showing Max, I met some wonderful people that I
am lucky to count as friends today including Becky and Daviann Mitchell. |

My
life got busy. I worked as a management consultant to large and
demanding companies and had two lovely and demanding children.
Dog showing and obedience competitions were put on "hold"
for 10 years. During that time we always had Rottweilers.
I
started showing dogs again in 2005 and once again lucked into
another terrific breed, "Frenchies". I got
"Peaches" Am. Champion Holmac's Haena Girl for my 8 year
old daughter to show, while I was at the Rottweiler ring. Devon
and Peaches made quite a splash. Devon, at age 9, showed
Peaches to her first points out of the puppy classes.

About
this time, Daviann introduced me to Perry Payson, suggesting he
would be the perfect handler to finish "Magic" Am/Can
Champion Nighthawk's Unbelievable RE, CDX. Perry and Daviann
handled Magic's show career beautifully and gave me my first
rottweiler champion. Perry also loved French Bulldogs. He
saw Peaches and suggested he could finish her quickly. Devon's
schedule had gotten busy and so Perry finished what Devon
started. Highwood had it's first champion!
Perry
has shown our dogs ever since and we couldn't be happier with the results!
A
little luck and getting to know some wonderful people that also have
a great eye for dogs has allowed me to really enjoy these two very
special breeds. |
